Arbatax Tower
The San Miguel Tower of Arbatax, traditionally linked to the old name “Arba a Tasciar”, is the historic tower that gave Arbatax its name. Built in the 16th century from granite and porphyry, it has a substantial structure divided into a cistern, main floor and terrace. Originally part of the coastal defence system protecting the harbour, it later became a military barracks in the 19th century. Recent restoration has preserved historic gun openings and the tower remains a distinctive viewpoint over the port.
