Cala dei Gabbiani Beach

Spiaggia dei Gabbiani is one of the most scenic coves on the Baunei Coast. The shore is made up of tiny smooth pale pebbles, while the clear sea shifts from turquoise to emerald in the sunlight. High cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation give the cove a wild character, and in the afternoon parts of the beach fall into shade.

Access to Spiaggia dei Gabbiani is usually organised through boat excursions, private boats or hiking routes. Availability and any visitor limits can change, so booking in advance and checking current local rules is recommended during the summer season.

Reaching the cove overland requires a demanding trek of several hours through the Golgo and Ispuligidenie area. This is not a casual beach walk: the route is suitable for experienced hikers with proper equipment, water and knowledge of the terrain. A local guide is strongly recommended.

The beach is separated from Cala Mariolu by Punta Ispuligi. Spiaggia dei Gabbiani is a relatively small cove whose name comes from the gulls that gather around the surrounding cliffs and caves, especially towards evening. Other bird species may also be seen along this wild stretch of coast.

Nearby Cala Mariolu is one of the best-known beaches on the Baunei Coast, while Cala Goloritzè is another major natural landmark. Other important coves include Cala Biriala, Cala Luna and Cala Sisine. These are best explored as part of a dedicated coastal day rather than rushed together with inland stops.
