Town

Sorso

Sorso is one of the main towns of Romangia, only a few kilometres from Sassari, with a long coastline on the Gulf of Asinara and an agricultural landscape known for wine, olive oil and local produce.

Sorso town centre

The town lies among cultivated hills and has a lively urban centre historically connected to agriculture and trade in the Sassari area. Churches, squares and residential districts reflect a place that remains active throughout the year and can be used as a base for both Sassari and the coast.

Marina di Sorso and Platamona

The municipal coastline stretches for many kilometres along the Gulf of Asinara. Marina di Sorso and Platamona are characterised by broad sandy beaches, dunes and coastal vegetation. The area is busy in summer but also suitable for long walks on mild spring and autumn days.

Romangia, wine and olive oil

Sorso is part of Romangia, a historic agricultural area in north-west Sardinia. Vineyards and olive groves shape the landscape and support wine and olive-oil production that remains central to local identity. Visiting wineries and farms offers a way to understand the territory beyond its beaches.

Archaeology and the surrounding area

The countryside preserves archaeological remains that document ancient settlement in the area. Sorso is also well positioned for itineraries towards Sennori, Sassari, Porto Torres and Castelsardo, linking coastal destinations with rural landscapes.

Why choose Sorso

Sorso suits travellers looking for a less tourism-focused base than the better-known seaside resorts while remaining close to the sea. Beaches, historic towns and villages of the north-west are all within easy reach, with a stronger connection to everyday local life.
