Hamlet of Loiri Porto San Paolo

Porto San Paolo

Porto San Paolo is the coastal village of the municipality of Loiri Porto San Paolo and one of the main gateways to the Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area. Tavolara's unmistakable profile dominates the scenery, framing the beaches, harbour and boat itineraries.

The coastal village

Porto San Paolo is a compact resort with tourist services, restaurants and a small harbour. Its position between Olbia and San Teodoro makes it particularly practical for exploring north-east Sardinia without constantly changing accommodation.

Tavolara opposite the village

Tavolara island is the constant focal point of the landscape. Boats and excursions depart from the harbour for the island and surrounding marine areas. Access rules and visiting arrangements should always be checked according to the season and the regulations of the Marine Protected Area.

Beaches and coves

Porto Taverna, Cala Girgolu and other nearby beaches offer different settings, from shallow seabeds to granite rocks sculpted by the wind. Their proximity makes it easy to plan relaxed days without trying to fit in too many stops.

Marine Protected Area

This stretch of coast is part of the protected Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo system, shared with Olbia and San Teodoro. It is an important area for biodiversity, seabeds and marine activities, where environmental rules are an essential part of the experience.

A strategic base

Porto San Paolo suits itineraries linking Olbia, San Teodoro and Tavolara. In the Trip Planner it can work both as a base and as a key sea-focused stop, especially for travellers interested in nature and boating.
