Hamlet of Iglesias
Nebida
Nebida is a former mining village overlooking one of the most spectacular stretches of the Iglesiente coast. The viewpoint over Laveria Lamarmora, Pan di Zucchero and the surrounding cliffs makes it an essential stop on a trip through south-west Sardinia.
The village above the cliffs
Nebida stands high above the sea and extends along slopes overlooking the coastline. Its position offers panoramic views of sea stacks, former mining structures and dramatic rock faces.
Laveria Lamarmora
A panoramic path leads to viewpoints over the large ore-washing plant built into the hillside. These industrial ruins set against the sea are among the iconic images of the Iglesiente.
Pan di Zucchero
The great Pan di Zucchero sea stack rises just offshore. Its profile dominates the view from Nebida and visually connects the village with Masua and Porto Flavia.
Mining history
Nebida is part of the extensive mining landscape of south-west Sardinia. Villages, tunnels and industrial plants tell the story of an industrial past that has become one of the area's main cultural attractions.
Nebida in your itinerary
In the Trip Planner, Nebida is a major stop to combine with Porto Flavia, Masua or Iglesias. The panoramic roads deserve time and should not be treated simply as transfers between destinations.
