Isola Rossa

Isola Rossa is a seaside village in the municipality of Trinità d'Agultu e Vignola, overlooking the Gulf of Asinara. Its small harbour, coastal tower, red rocks and nearby beaches make it a particularly pleasant base for exploring the coast between Castelsardo and Costa Paradiso.

The seaside village

The village develops around the harbour and Spiaggia Longa. Distances are short and much of Isola Rossa can be enjoyed on foot, especially in the evening.

The red rocks and coastal tower

The village takes its name from the reddish granite islets just offshore. The coastal tower adds a historic landmark to the scenery and recalls the network of maritime watchtowers once used around Sardinia.

La Marinedda

La Marinedda, one of the best-known beaches in the area, lies only a short distance away. It is a major stop that can easily be combined with the village without long transfers.

Towards Costa Paradiso

Continuing east leads to Costa Paradiso and the trail to Li Cossi. This stretch of coast is characterised by red granite, small coves and Mediterranean scrub.

A base in north-west Sardinia

Isola Rossa works well for a stay of several days and can connect Castelsardo, Badesi and Costa Paradiso. In the Trip Planner it is more useful as a genuine coastal base than as a simple stop along the way.
