Town

Teulada

Teulada is a town in south-west Sardinia surrounded by mountains, woodland and one of the island's most scenic coastlines. Inland traditions and a historic centre coexist with famous beaches such as Tuerredda and still-wild headlands.

The village of Teulada

The historic centre preserves the structure of a town that developed inland after older coastal settlements were abandoned. Courtyard houses, small streets and squares reflect a history shaped by farming and the need for protection from raids arriving from the sea. Casa Baronale dei Sanjust is one of the town's architectural landmarks.

Tuerredda

Between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento lies Tuerredda, one of the best-known beaches in southern Sardinia. Pale sand, transparent water and the small island facing the bay create an instantly recognisable landscape. During regulated periods, access may require advance booking, so current rules should always be checked before visiting.

Capo Malfatano and the coast

Teulada's coastline alternates beaches, small coves and rocky headlands. Capo Malfatano is marked by a coastal tower and a landscape where granite, schist and Mediterranean scrub create very different bays. Portu Tramatzu and other beaches in the municipality are also worth a stop.

Mountains, forests and archaeology

Teulada's inland area complements the coast with woodland, hills and archaeological remains. Numerous nuraghi are scattered across the territory, making it possible to move quickly from beaches to mountain and rural landscapes.

Teulada on a southern Sardinia itinerary

Teulada fits naturally into an itinerary between Pula, Chia, Sant'Anna Arresi, Porto Pino and the Sulcis. It is a good base for travellers who want to explore the southern coastline at a slower pace, alternating famous beaches with quieter stretches.

How to plan your visit

Teulada covers a large area, so travelling by car is useful and it is best to choose a different section of coast each day. For Tuerredda and other regulated beaches, always check the latest access rules. The historic centre is pleasant to visit during the cooler hours before or after the beach.
