Town

Fluminimaggiore

Fluminimaggiore is a town in the Iglesiente, crossed by the Rio Mannu and surrounded by forests, former mines and important archaeological sites. The Temple of Antas and Su Mannau Cave, both within its territory, make it one of the most complete cultural and nature bases in south-west Sardinia.

The town in the valley

The town developed along the Rio Mannu valley. The old mill and traces of traditional activities tell the story of a community shaped by agriculture and mining.

Temple of Antas

The sanctuary of Antas, already featured on the portal, reflects Nuragic, Punic and Roman phases and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Iglesiente.

Su Mannau Cave

Nearby lies a large karst cave system crossed by underground waterways. The visitor route reveals mineral formations, chambers and subterranean lakes.

Mines and forests

The surrounding area preserves numerous former mining sites and extensive green areas towards Monte Linas and Marganai. This variety makes it possible to combine archaeology, caves and hiking.

Towards the coast

Portixeddu, Buggerru and the Costa Verde can be reached along scenic routes. In the Trip Planner, Fluminimaggiore should work as a hub connecting Antas, Su Mannau and the wider mining landscape.
