Montarbu Forest
Montarbu Forest is one of Sardinia’s major inland woodland areas and extends across the territory of Seui. Holm oak forests, rocky cliffs, streams and rich wildlife make it one of the best destinations in the area for hiking and nature.
A vast forest landscape
Montarbu covers thousands of hectares, alternating dense woodland, clearings, limestone ridges and streams. Because of its size, it is better to choose a specific trail or sector rather than treat the forest as a single quick stop.
Hiking trails
The trail network offers walks of different lengths and difficulty levels. Local information, maps and current weather conditions are important before setting out on longer routes.
Wildlife
The area is home to deer, fallow deer, mouflon and numerous bird species. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and animals should always be observed without disturbance.
Seui
Seui is the natural base for exploring Montarbu Forest and can round out the day with its historic centre, museums and local traditions.
In the Trip Planner
Montarbu should be treated as the main nature destination for the day. On longer trips, it can be alternated with Sadali or Perda Liana on separate days rather than combined into an overloaded itinerary.
