Argentiera
Argentiera is a former mining village in the territory of Sassari, overlooking the sea on the Nurra coast. Industrial buildings, miners’ housing and extraction structures sit in an isolated coastal landscape, creating one of northern Sardinia’s most atmospheric industrial-archaeology sites.
The mining village
The settlement developed around mining activity and still preserves several buildings connected with ore processing and the everyday life of the mining community.
Industrial archaeology by the sea
Argentiera’s defining feature is the direct relationship between its industrial structures and the coast. The landscape makes it easy to see how mining shaped both the settlement and the surrounding territory.
The Nurra coast
The coastline around the village is open, rugged and lightly developed. Panoramic roads and viewpoints are an important part of the experience.
History and restoration
The former mining structures have gone through periods of abandonment and restoration. Access to some areas may vary, so visitors should respect barriers and official instructions.
Argentiera in your itinerary
Argentiera combines well with Porto Ferro and Lake Baratz, creating a day in western Nurra that mixes industrial archaeology and natural landscapes.
