Lake Baratz
Lake Baratz is Sardinia’s only natural lake, set in the Nurra area a short distance from Porto Ferro. Surrounded by pine woods and Mediterranean vegetation, it offers a landscape that feels completely different from the nearby beaches of north-west Sardinia.
Sardinia’s only natural lake
Baratz fills a natural depression separated from the sea by the coastal dune system. This origin makes it unusual in Sardinia, where most large inland bodies of water are artificial reservoirs.
Trails and pine woods
Paths run through the surrounding vegetation, making the area suitable for easy walks and nature-focused activities, particularly in spring and autumn.
Wildlife and environment
The lake and surrounding woodland and wetland habitats support a variety of wildlife. Visitors should keep noise to a minimum and avoid disturbing animals or sensitive areas.
Porto Ferro
Porto Ferro Beach is nearby, making it easy to combine the lake and the coast in the same day without long transfers.
A nature stop
In the Trip Planner, Lake Baratz works well as a nature stop alongside Porto Ferro or Argentiera, especially for travellers who want to alternate coastal scenery with inland environments.
