Su Giudeu: one of Chia’s iconic beaches

Su Giudeu is one of the best-known beaches in Chia, in the municipality of Domus de Maria in southern Sardinia. Its broad stretch of pale sand, clear water and scenic setting have also made it a popular location for photography and advertising.

A natural paradise

Su Giudeu combines clear blue water with a wide stretch of fine, pale sand. The seabed is generally shallow near the shore and the beach is spacious, although it can still become busy in summer. A small islet a short distance offshore adds to the distinctive view.

Flora and wildlife

Behind the beach are dunes covered with Mediterranean vegetation and old junipers, a fragile environment that should be protected. The nearby Spartivento lagoon is also an important wetland where birds such as flamingos, herons and coots may be seen.

Services and activities

Su Giudeu has a range of seasonal services that may include parking, beach equipment rental, canoes, pedal boats, bars, restaurants, accommodation and diving services in the wider area. It is also popular with swimmers, snorkellers and walkers.

How to get to Su Giudeu

The beach is reached from the SS195 and then via the scenic road towards Capo Spartivento. There are several access points in the area, including routes that connect towards nearby Cala Cipolla.

A highlight of Chia

Su Giudeu is one of several outstanding beaches along the Chia coastline in southern Sardinia. Each bay has its own character, but Su Giudeu stands out for the combination of broad sand, dunes, clear water and the small offshore islet.
