Cala Cipolla: a small bay in Chia

Cala Cipolla is one of the most attractive small beaches around Chia, on the south-west coast of Sardinia. Fine golden sand lies between two pink-granite headlands, creating a sheltered and scenic bay in the municipality of Domus de Maria. It is also within easy reach of Cagliari for a day trip.

What makes Cala Cipolla special

Cala Cipolla is known for clear water with shades of blue and green, a sandy seabed and small rocky areas that add variety to the coastline. Mediterranean scrub, dunes, pines and junipers surround the beach and give it a natural feel.

Activities and services

On suitable days the bay can be good for snorkelling and swimming. Services are limited compared with larger resort beaches, although parking and seasonal refreshment options may be available nearby.
