Cava Usai: a quieter corner of Villasimius

Cava Usai lies within the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area in the municipality of Villasimius. This small, relatively quiet beach has a rugged character and scenic views across the surrounding granite coastline.

Where history and nature meet

Cava Usai takes its name from an old granite quarry that operated until the mid-20th century. Pebbles, sand and worked stone around the area recall this industrial past, and traces of old buildings and transport routes can still be seen. The beach is also known locally as Sa Cava Manna.

A quiet, natural setting

Cava Usai is reached via a local road from the viewpoint beyond the Villasimius harbour area. Direct beach services are limited, which helps preserve its quieter atmosphere. Bring water and what you need for the day, and check seasonal access conditions before travelling.

A sea to explore

The clear water, ranging from blue to green, makes Cava Usai attractive for snorkelling when conditions are calm. Rocky areas support varied marine life and provide a different experience from the nearby sandy bays.

Cliffs and coastal views

The northern side near the old quarry is characterised by broad granite rocks and a more rugged shoreline. Looking out to sea, the profile of Isola dei Cavoli adds another distinctive feature to the panorama.

Why visit Cava Usai

Cava Usai is a worthwhile stop for travellers exploring Villasimius and south-eastern Sardinia. Its mix of clear water, granite scenery and quarry history makes it especially appealing if you prefer quieter coastal places with a strong sense of landscape.
