Capo Carbonara
Capo Carbonara is the headland at the south-eastern edge of Villasimius and gives its name to the local Marine Protected Area. Beaches, lagoons, islands, coastal towers and protected seabeds create one of southern Sardinia’s most important natural systems.
The headland
Capo Carbonara separates two stretches of coast and offers very different views within only a few kilometres. Rock, Mediterranean scrub and sea shape a landscape that still feels remarkably natural despite its proximity to Villasimius.
Marine Protected Area
The protected area covers a broad stretch of sea including reefs, shallows and islands. Boating and diving activities are regulated and must respect the different protection zones in force.
Isola dei Cavoli
Isola dei Cavoli lies just offshore and is one of the symbols of the area. Boat trips and diving excursions reveal the close relationship between the headland, the island and the surrounding marine environment.
Beaches and lagoons
Porto Giunco, Punta Molentis and other beaches around Villasimius belong to the same wider landscape. Lagoons and wetlands add further biodiversity to the area.
How to include it in your trip
Capo Carbonara deserves a day focused on Villasimius and its surroundings. The Trip Planner should avoid adding distant destinations elsewhere in southern Sardinia on the same day.
