Monti Russu

Monti Russu is a pink-granite headland in the municipality of Aglientu, surrounded by beaches, dunes and Mediterranean scrub. It is one of the more natural stretches of the Gallura coast facing the Gulf of Asinara.

The granite headland

The rounded pink-granite hill projects towards the sea and gives the whole landscape its identity. The colour of the rocks changes with the light, especially in the morning and around sunset.

The beaches

Pale sandy beaches and lightly developed coastal stretches lie on either side of the headland. The open sea can look and behave very differently depending on the wind.

Protected nature

Monti Russu lies in an area of natural interest, with dunes, Mediterranean scrub and coastal habitats that require particular care.

Aglientu and Vignola

The area lies along Aglientu’s extensive coastline and can be combined with Vignola Mare and Naracu Nieddu while keeping travel distances short.

In the Trip Planner

Monti Russu should be prioritised when an itinerary focuses on nature and the sea. It is better to spend time here rather than turn the Aglientu coast into a sequence of brief stops.
