Is Arenas
Is Arenas is one of the longest beaches in the Oristano area, stretching for almost six kilometres along Sardinia’s west coast. Large dunes, pine forest and open sea form a natural system spanning the municipalities of Narbolia, San Vero Milis and Cuglieri.
Almost six kilometres of sand
The long shoreline offers an unusual sense of space and makes it easy to move away from the busiest access points. The open sea and western horizon dominate the landscape.
The dunes
The name itself refers to the extensive sandy landscape. During the 20th century, part of the area was planted with trees to help limit the movement of dunes inland.
The pine forest
Today the green belt behind the beach is one of the area’s most recognisable features and makes Is Arenas attractive for walking even outside the main bathing season.
A beach shared by several municipalities
The central and largest section lies within Narbolia, while other stretches belong to San Vero Milis and Cuglieri. In the Life in Sardegna database, Narbolia is used as the primary municipality.
In the Trip Planner
Is Arenas is a strong sea-and-nature stop. It can fit naturally between the Sinis Peninsula and Montiferru without adding other distant beaches to the same day.
