Town

Valledoria

Valledoria is a coastal destination in northern Sardinia overlooking the Gulf of Asinara, where the Coghinas River reaches the sea. Long beaches, wetlands, water sports and its position between Castelsardo and Badesi make it a practical base for exploring this stretch of coast.

The town and coastline

Valledoria lies only a short distance from the sea and offers useful services for stays of several days. The coastline is broad and sandy, with access points spread over several kilometres and a more open landscape than the small coves typical of Gallura.

The mouth of the Coghinas River

The Coghinas reaches the sea through a transitional environment of river, dunes and coastline. The area is interesting for outdoor activities and landscape observation, especially during the cooler parts of the day.

San Pietro a Mare

San Pietro a Mare is one of the main beaches in the Valledoria area. It is long, exposed and also suitable for wind-related water sports when conditions are favourable.

Castelsardo and Badesi

Valledoria sits between Castelsardo and Badesi, making it easy to alternate beach days with visits to nearby towns without long drives.

How to use Valledoria in the Trip Planner

Valledoria is primarily a useful regional base. It becomes a strong itinerary stop when the trip includes the Coghinas estuary, nature activities or a dedicated beach day; it should not be added simply because other towns are nearby.
