Triei
Triei is set among green hills that turn bright yellow with broom flowers in spring, surrounded by wild landscapes, holm-oak woods, olive trees and unspoilt nature. Its position, mild climate and combination of hills and flatter land make the area well suited to farming and the production of high-quality wines. The village is reached from the SS125 Orientale Sarda, taking the junction near Santa Maria Navarrese, a coastal village in the municipality of Baunei.
The origins of Triei
The history of Triei's foundation remains uncertain. The most widely accepted theory links its origins to Saracen raids along the coast and the subsequent movement of local people inland to seek protection from pirate attacks.
