Hamlet of Olbia

San Pantaleo

San Pantaleo is a small village in the municipality of Olbia, set among dramatic granite formations. Known for its artisan workshops, market, central square and intimate atmosphere, it is one of the most distinctive inland villages of Gallura, only a few kilometres from the Costa Smeralda.

The village among the granite mountains

San Pantaleo developed around its church and central square. Low houses and granite architecture create an atmosphere very different from modern coastal resorts, while the mountains behind the village form a particularly recognisable natural backdrop.

Crafts and market

San Pantaleo is known for workshops, studios and artisan shops. Its weekly market has become one of the area’s most popular events, especially in spring and summer. The village is also worth visiting outside market day, when the atmosphere is quieter.

Hiking and nature

The hills around the village are crossed by trails through granite landscapes, cork oak woodland and Mediterranean scrub. Some routes are easy while others require more preparation. In summer, the cooler hours of the day are the best time for walking.

The Costa Smeralda nearby

Liscia Ruja, Rena Bianca, Petra Ruja and other beaches of the north-east coast are within easy reach. This makes San Pantaleo a good option for travellers who prefer to stay inland while remaining close to the sea.

How to include San Pantaleo in your itinerary

San Pantaleo works well as a half-day stop combined with a beach, Porto Rotondo or Porto Cervo. In the Trip Planner it should be treated as a worthwhile village destination rather than simply a geographical stop.
