Town

Palau

Palau is one of Gallura's main tourist destinations, overlooking the La Maddalena Archipelago and surrounded by granite coastline, beaches and landscapes shaped by the wind.

The town and harbour

Life in Palau revolves around the harbour and seafront, the departure point for ferries to La Maddalena and numerous archipelago excursions. The town offers services, restaurants and a convenient position for exploring the northern coast of Gallura.

Roccia dell'Orso

Palau's natural symbol is Roccia dell'Orso, a large granite formation sculpted by the elements on the Capo d'Orso headland. The area offers spectacular views over the islands and the waters of the Strait of Bonifacio.

Beaches and nearby destinations

The surrounding coastline alternates small bays, rocky stretches and easily reached beaches. Palau is also an excellent base for Porto Pollo, Santa Teresa Gallura, the Costa Smeralda and, above all, La Maddalena Archipelago National Park.
