Town
La Maddalena
La Maddalena is the main town of the archipelago of the same name and the gateway to one of the Mediterranean's most spectacular marine landscapes, shaped by islands, coves and granite.
La Maddalena town centre
The town develops around the harbour and Cala Gavetta, with lanes, squares and buildings that reflect the island's maritime history. The Church of Santa Maria Maddalena and the seafront are among the most recognisable sights, while the centre is lively throughout the tourist season.
The island and its beaches
A panoramic road circles much of the island through granite rocks, Mediterranean scrub and bays. Cala Francese, Punta Tegge, Bassa Trinità and Spalmatore are just some of the areas to explore, combining time by the sea with short walks.
Caprera and the archipelago
La Maddalena is connected by bridge to Caprera, home to sites linked to Giuseppe Garibaldi as well as beautiful natural scenery. Boat trips also leave from the harbour for Spargi, Budelli, Santa Maria and the other islands of the national park.
