Town
Desulo
Desulo is an old mountain village on the western slopes of the Gennargentu massif. Slate houses, three historic districts, traditional costumes and forests that change colour with the seasons make it one of the most distinctive destinations in inland Sardinia.
A village in the Gennargentu
The village rises steeply at almost 900 metres above sea level. Its houses follow the shape of the mountain, opening onto continuous views of the surrounding valleys.
Issiria, Ovolaccio and Asuai
These three historic districts shape Desulo's urban identity. Walking through their lanes and traditional houses reveals a village that remains closely connected to mountain life.
Traditional costumes and local culture
Desulo's traditional costume is one of the most recognisable in Sardinia. Its fabrics, colours and craftsmanship reflect a culture that remains very present during festivals and community celebrations.
Forests and hiking
The municipal territory climbs towards the higher elevations of the Gennargentu and is crossed by hiking routes. Autumn and spring are particularly atmospheric seasons for walking in the area.
Desulo in your itinerary
Aritzo and Fonni make it possible to build a coherent mountain itinerary around Desulo. The Trip Planner should recommend the village when travellers are interested in traditions, nature or hiking.
