Hamlet of Arzachena

Cannigione

Cannigione is a seaside town in the municipality of Arzachena, overlooking the broad gulf of the same name. Originally a fishing village, it is now a well-equipped resort with a harbour, seafront and quick access to both Gallura's beaches and inland archaeological sites.

The town and seafront

Cannigione retains a close relationship with the sea. The seafront and harbour are the focus of summer life, with nautical services, restaurants and coastal connections. Its size also makes the town practical for stays of several days.

The Gulf of Arzachena

Cannigione faces a large, sheltered inlet. The landscape alternates sea, small beaches, wetlands and hills covered with Mediterranean scrub, offering different conditions from the more exposed bays of the Costa Smeralda.

Beaches nearby

Tanca Manna, Mannena, Barca Bruciata and other beaches in the Arzachena area are nearby. The famous bays of the Costa Smeralda and the roads towards Palau are also only a short drive away.

Archaeology and inland Gallura

Cannigione is close to Arzachena's major archaeological sites. La Prisgiona, Coddu Vecchju, Li Muri and other sites make it easy to combine coast and culture in the same day without long transfers.

A base for north-east Sardinia

Location is one of Cannigione's strengths: Porto Cervo, Palau and La Maddalena are all within easy reach. In the Trip Planner it is a useful base when an itinerary needs to connect the Costa Smeralda with the archipelago while keeping driving times reasonable.
