Su Monte ’e S’Abe Giants’ Tomb
Su Monte ’e S’Abe is a large Giants’ Tomb in the countryside south of Olbia, at the foot of the hill topped by Pedres Castle. The monument adds an important archaeological dimension to a territory better known for its beaches.
The monument
The tomb preserves the long funerary corridor typical of collective Nuragic burial architecture together with a broad ceremonial area at the front.
An ancient history
The site shows different phases of use and transformation, providing evidence for the long human occupation of the Olbia plain.
The landscape
Its open setting provides views across the countryside towards the Pedres hill, creating an immediate visual connection between archaeology and landscape.
Pedres Castle
The two sites are very close and work best as a single short historical itinerary. Visiting them together avoids unnecessary driving and makes the stop more rewarding.
On an Olbia itinerary
For travellers staying in Olbia, Su Monte ’e S’Abe is a cultural alternative to the beaches and can be combined with the city centre or one coastal stop.
