Lake Gusana
Lake Gusana is a large reservoir surrounded by forests and mountains in the territory of Gavoi. Its broad water surface and highland scenery offer a very different side of Sardinia from the island’s famous coast.
The lake
The reservoir fills a valley close to Gavoi and, on calm days, reflects the surrounding woodland and hills.
Walks and nature
Roads and paths around the lake provide scenic stops and opportunities for outdoor activities. Access and conditions can vary by season.
Gavoi
Gavoi is the main base for the lake and adds a historic centre, local traditions and Barbagia cuisine to the day.
Mountain Barbagia
Fonni and other Gennargentu villages are nearby. The lake works well as a scenic stop within a broader inland itinerary.
In the Trip Planner
Lake Gusana is a good lighter stop between Gavoi and Fonni, particularly on longer trips where intense sightseeing days need to be balanced with more relaxed moments.
