Torre dei Corsari: dunes and open sea on the Costa Verde

Torre dei Corsari is one of the most distinctive destinations on the Costa Verde in western Sardinia. Golden dunes, silver-grey rocks, Mediterranean vegetation and a sea that shifts between turquoise and deep green create a striking landscape with an almost desert-like feel.

Nature and outdoor activities

The beach and its dunes

The beach extends for roughly 1.5 kilometres and is backed by large golden dunes shaped by the wind. In spring, Mediterranean plants and coastal flowers add colour to the sandy landscape.

Activities and services

Torre dei Corsari is also popular with surfers and other water-sports enthusiasts because of its exposure to wind and waves. Seasonal services in the area may include parking, beach equipment rental, accommodation, bars and restaurants.

Beyond the beach

The tower and surrounding landscape

The name Torre dei Corsari comes from the historic coastal watchtower of Flumentorgiu, built to help protect the coast from raids. The headland offers broad views over the bay, cliffs and long sandy shoreline.

A remarkable ecosystem

The wider Costa Verde is famous for large dune systems such as Piscinas and Scivu, Mediterranean scrub and a rich natural environment. Wildlife, wetlands and long undeveloped stretches of coast add to the sense of wilderness.

Why visit Torre dei Corsari

Torre dei Corsari is ideal for travellers looking for big landscapes, open sea, sunsets and a more rugged side of Sardinia’s west coast.
