Mari Ermi

Mari Ermi is one of the best-known beaches on the Sinis Peninsula, within the municipality of Cabras. The shoreline is formed by small pale and pink quartz grains, clear water and an open coastal landscape that retains a strong natural character.

The quartz beach

Mari Ermi is distinctive for its rounded quartz grains, with tones ranging from white to pink and very pale green. It belongs to the same coastal system as nearby Is Arutas.

A landscape to protect

Quartz grains must never be collected or removed. The beach formed through extremely long natural processes, and taking even small quantities causes cumulative damage.

Sea and wind on the Sinis Peninsula

The west coast is exposed and can be affected by strong mistral winds. On calm days the sea is clear and bright; in wind and waves, conditions change quickly. Check the forecast before planning a beach-focused day.

Tharros and San Giovanni di Sinis

Mari Ermi fits naturally into a Sinis itinerary with Tharros and San Giovanni di Sinis. Archaeology, wetlands and beaches can be spread over one or two days with very little driving.

Cabras as a base

Cabras is the main base for exploring the peninsula, with quick access to beaches, archaeological sites and wetlands. In the Trip Planner, Mari Ermi works especially well as an afternoon beach stop after a cultural visit in the Sinis area.
