Cala Spinosa

Cala Spinosa is a small bay on the northern side of Capo Testa, in the municipality of Santa Teresa Gallura. Granite formations, transparent water and its compact size make it one of the most scenic corners of Sardinia’s far north.

A cove among granite rocks

The beach is small and surrounded by large wind-shaped granite rocks. This setting makes Cala Spinosa highly photogenic but also means it can fill up quickly in summer.

Access

Reaching the cove involves a short walk over uneven ground. Proper footwear is better than simple flip-flops, and the climb back up should be considered on hot days.

The sea at Capo Testa

On calm days the water is especially clear and well suited to swimming and snorkelling. In strong wind or rough sea, the character of the bay changes completely.

Lighthouse and Capo Testa

Cala Spinosa lies close to the lighthouse and granite landscapes of Capo Testa. It is best combined with a walk on the headland rather than several other beaches in the same day.

Santa Teresa Gallura

Santa Teresa Gallura is only a few kilometres away and rounds out the day with services, an evening walk and Rena Bianca. The Trip Planner should suggest Cala Spinosa mainly when the route is already focused on Capo Testa.
