Capo Testa

Capo Testa is a granite headland connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, just a few kilometres from Santa Teresa Gallura. Wind, sea and granite have shaped a dramatic landscape of monumental rocks, small bays and panoramic trails.

The granite landscape

Capo Testa is one of the places where Gallura’s granite takes on its most spectacular forms. Rounded boulders, tafoni and weather-sculpted rock walls line the paths, creating a landscape that changes dramatically with light and wind.

The two beaches on the isthmus

Rena di Ponente and Rena di Levante lie on opposite sides of the isthmus leading to the headland. Because they face different directions, one can be more sheltered when the wind is blowing strongly on the other side, a useful feature for visitors choosing where to swim.

The lighthouse and Valle della Luna

Continuing towards the outer tip of the headland leads to the lighthouse area and walking routes through the granite. On the western side lies Valle della Luna, also known as Cala Grande, a striking landscape of rock and Mediterranean scrub overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio.

Santa Teresa Gallura and nearby places

Capo Testa combines easily with Santa Teresa Gallura and Rena Bianca Beach. With more time, you can also explore the coast towards Rena Majore or connect the trip with ferry routes across to Corsica.
