Town
Orroli
Orroli is a village in the Sarcidano region, surrounded by plateaus, valleys and large reservoirs. The area is best known for Nuraghe Arrubiu, one of Sardinia’s most monumental Nuragic complexes.
The village of Sarcidano
The centre has a quiet atmosphere and is a practical base for exploring inland Sardinia. The surrounding rural landscape shifts quickly between hills, pastureland and lakeside areas.
Nuraghe Arrubiu
The “Red Giant”, already featured on the portal, is the area’s main attraction. Its five-tower bastion and extensive surrounding complex make it a major stop for travellers interested in archaeology.
Flumendosa and Mulargia
Two large reservoirs shape the surrounding landscape and create scenery that feels unusual for Sardinia. Roads and viewpoints reveal the contrast between the water and the surrounding hills.
Archaeology and landscape
Sarcidano preserves numerous prehistoric and Nuragic sites. Orroli can therefore anchor a wider cultural day while keeping travel distances relatively short.
In the Trip Planner
Orroli should be given high priority when a traveller selects history and archaeology. Nuraghe Arrubiu and the surrounding lake scenery can form a balanced day without adding long transfers.
