Town

Luras

Luras is a small town in upper Gallura known for its granite landscape, local traditions and especially the ancient wild olive trees around Santu Baltolu, among the most impressive monumental trees in Sardinia.

Luras town centre

The town has a simple urban fabric built with the granite typical of this part of Gallura. It is a compact stop that fits well into a day exploring Tempio, Calangianus and the landscapes of inland Gallura.

The ancient olive trees

Near Lake Liscia stand large wild olive trees, some remarkable for their size and age. The area is particularly interesting for travellers drawn to nature, botany and rural landscapes.

Traditions and museums

Luras preserves traces of Gallura’s material culture and everyday rural life. Small museums and local collections help visitors understand the town beyond a simple walk through its centre.

Lake Liscia and the countryside

The surrounding territory alternates between hills, woodland and agricultural areas. Lake Liscia adds another landscape element that can be combined with the ancient olive trees and inland roads.

Luras in your itinerary

In the Trip Planner, Luras works well as a thematic stop focused on nature and traditions, especially when combined with Tempio Pausania and Calangianus.
