Su Tempiesu
Su Tempiesu is a Nuragic sacred spring in the territory of Orune and one of Sardinia’s most distinctive examples of architecture linked to water worship. The monument lies in a green valley reached on foot after entering the archaeological site.
The water temple
The monument was built during the Bronze Age, probably around the 13th century BC. The spring was monumentalised with precisely worked stone blocks and a small covered temple structure.
An exceptional structure
Su Tempiesu preserves architectural features that are rare among Sardinia’s sacred wells and springs. Its façade and evidence of the original roof help visitors imagine how these ritual buildings may once have looked when complete.
The spring
Water still flows through the monument, a direct reminder of the sacred function for which the site was created.
The path through the valley
From the visitor area, the route continues on foot through a natural setting. Comfortable shoes are recommended and path conditions may vary with the season.
In the Trip Planner
