Serra Orrios

Serra Orrios is a large Nuragic village in the territory of Dorgali, set among basalt plateaus and Mediterranean scrub. Its many huts and sacred areas offer a close look at how a Nuragic community was organised.

A large Nuragic village

The site includes around one hundred huts arranged in groups and connected by passages and shared spaces. Its scale helps move beyond the idea of Nuragic civilisation as being defined only by stone towers: here, the village and everyday life take centre stage.

The huts

The circular structures served different purposes, and some preserve features linked to domestic, craft or communal activities. Walking among the remains gives a clear sense of the settlement's scale and organisation.

The sacred areas

Serra Orrios also includes places of worship, giving the site the character of a village-sanctuary. These structures add a religious and communal dimension and show the complexity of the society that used the settlement.

The Dorgali area

The visit combines easily with Ispinigoli, Dorgali and Cala Gonone. A day in the area can therefore mix archaeology, caves and scenery without focusing entirely on the coast.

Visitor information

The site is outdoors and can become very hot in summer. Bring water, a hat and comfortable footwear. Check opening hours and access arrangements before travelling, especially outside the high season.
