Nuraghe Serbissi

The Serbissi Nuragic complex stands on a limestone spur in the Tacchi d’Ogliastra at almost 1,000 metres above sea level. A complex nuraghe, village remains and a large cave beneath the site create an unusual overlap between archaeology and geology.

The nuraghe on the Tacco

The structure occupies a commanding position above the valley. The main tower preserves its tholos chamber and is accompanied by smaller towers.

The village

Foundations of several huts are visible around the nuraghe, showing the presence of an organised settlement on the plateau.

The cave beneath the site

A natural cavity runs through the limestone ridge below the archaeological area. This relationship between built monument and karst environment is one of Serbissi’s most distinctive features.

How to get there

The site lies several kilometres from Osini and the final sections may involve unpaved roads. Check current access and road conditions before visiting.

In the Trip Planner

Serbissi is an archaeology-and-nature destination that deserves time. It can be combined with Osini or Ulassai, but not with another long hiking route on the same day.
