Gorropu Gorge
Gorropu Gorge is one of the great natural monuments of the Supramonte. Towering limestone walls, the bed of the Flumineddu river and demanding access trails create a spectacular landscape on the boundary between the territories of Urzulei and Orgosolo.
The canyon
Gorropu is a deep gorge carved into limestone by the Flumineddu river. Its most dramatic section is enclosed by near-vertical walls that create a powerful sense of scale.
A landscape on the boundary
The gorge marks the boundary between Urzulei and Orgosolo. In the database it is linked primarily to Urzulei while keeping its cross-municipal character clear.
Hiking
All main approaches require walking, elevation gain and a reasonable level of fitness. Some routes are long and can become especially demanding in hot weather.
Safety
Weather, water levels and trail conditions should be checked before setting out. For the more challenging routes, using an experienced local guide is strongly recommended.
In the Trip Planner
Gorropu should take up most of a day. It should not be combined with several beaches or another demanding hike simply because those places are geographically close.
