Burgos Forest

Burgos Forest is a large green area a few kilometres from the village, in the heart of Goceano. Woodland, pasture, walking routes and facilities linked to horse breeding make it an excellent place to discover the natural side of inland Sardinia.

Woodland and landscape

The area alternates forests, clearings and grazing land across a rolling landscape that is especially pleasant in spring and autumn.

Horses and equestrian tradition

The Burgos area has long been associated with horse breeding. Facilities within the forest reflect the importance of equestrian culture and breeding to the local territory.

Archaeology

The forest also contains Nuragic remains, showing that this landscape was used long before the modern activities for which the area is now known.

San Salvatore

The small church of San Salvatore is one of the landmarks of the area and sits naturally within the surrounding woodland landscape.

In the Trip Planner

Burgos Forest and Burgos Castle make a very effective combination: spend the morning at the fortress and enjoy a lighter afternoon in nature, with very little driving between the two.
