Castello della Fava

Castello della Fava dominates Posada from the top of the limestone hill on which the village stands. Its medieval tower and surviving fortifications offer some of the widest views on Sardinia’s east coast, from the Posada valley to the sea.

The castle above the village

The elevated position once controlled the surrounding territory and important routes. Today the tower is Posada’s most recognisable landmark.

The climb

From the historic centre, narrow lanes and steps lead uphill to the fortifications. The ascent is an important part of the visit and gradually opens wider views across the village.

The panorama

From the summit, views extend across the plain, river, wetlands and coastline. It is one of the best places to understand the geography of the Posada area.

The village of Posada

The medieval streets below the castle complete the experience and make Posada a strong destination even without adding several other attractions.

In the Trip Planner

The castle and historic village should be treated as one stop. They can be paired with a nearby beach for a balanced day combining history and the sea.
