Spiaggia del Principe

Spiaggia del Principe is one of the signature bays of the Costa Smeralda, in the municipality of Arzachena. Pale sand, granite rocks and Mediterranean scrub form a sheltered, highly photogenic cove that becomes especially busy in summer.

An iconic Costa Smeralda bay

Clusters of granite rocks visually divide the beach, which opens onto exceptionally clear, pale-blue water on sunny days. Mediterranean vegetation reaches close to the shore, helping the bay retain a strong natural character despite its fame.

Access and the best time to visit

Reaching the beach requires a walk from the parking area. In July and August visitor numbers can be very high, so parking availability should be factored into your plans. June and September generally offer a calmer experience.

Granite rocks and seabed

The granite formations typical of Gallura frame the beach and create small variations along the shoreline. The pale seabed contributes to the turquoise colour of the water and makes the bay appealing for swimming and snorkelling when the sea is calm.

What to see nearby

Spiaggia del Principe is close to other famous Costa Smeralda destinations, including Cala Capriccioli, Romazzino and Porto Cervo. It is usually better to choose one or two beaches for the day and spend the remaining time exploring the Arzachena area rather than constantly moving from one beach to another.

Protecting the landscape

Because the beach receives heavy visitor pressure, use only authorised access points and parking areas, avoid walking through the vegetation and take all rubbish away with you. The beauty of the bay depends on the balance between sand, granite and Mediterranean scrub.
