Il Golfetto Beach
On Sardinia’s eastern coast, near the towns of Tortolì and Arbatax, lies a 16-kilometre stretch of sandy paradise known as Lido di Orrì.
Along this extensive coastline, there are many small bays and coves. One of its true gems is Il Golfetto Beach, also known as Muscì or Cala Ginepro.
The beach is renowned for its crystal-clear, exceptionally clean water, with shades ranging from light blue and emerald green to almost indigo. How to Get to Il Golfetto Beach
To reach Tortolì from Olbia, take the SS125 towards Siniscola and follow the signs for the new road to Nuoro. From there, continue towards Tortolì.
From Cagliari, follow the SS125 towards Muravera, passing through several towns and villages before continuing towards Tortolì.
Once you arrive, follow the clearly marked signs for Lido di Orrì. Continue straight ahead, passing the first beaches along the coastline.
When you reach a large rock displaying the sign “Bar – Il Golfetto”, take the unpaved road leading down to the large car park overlooking the beach.
Arriving at Il Golfetto always creates a feeling of wonder combined with a peaceful sense of calm.
What to See Near Il Golfetto Beach
There are many interesting places to visit nearby.
The area contains a complex nuraghe, the remains of another nuraghe, a domus de janas, a Giants’ Tomb, several ancient huts, a wall and a menhir.
Another beautiful nearby beach is Foxilioni, a stretch of sand that also forms part of Lido di Orrì. Its shallow, sandy seabed makes it suitable for all types of visitors.
One of the most famous attractions in Ogliastra can be found in nearby Arbatax. The Red Rocks are considered the symbol of this seaside village and one of the most important natural landmarks in the region.
They form a spectacular cathedral of red porphyry that appears to rise directly from the crystal-clear water and surrounding granite rocks.
