Cala Sisine
Shimmering waters reflecting the sun’s rays, changing from blue to turquoise and emerald green in an enchanting display of colours. Smooth, round white pebbles shaped by the sea. A breathtaking seabed and a fascinating underwater world to explore with a snorkel and fins. The surrounding mountain landscape makes the scenery even more magical, with 500-metre-high cliffs plunging dramatically into the sea.
And that is not all… perfect coves for adventurous dives, centuries-old trees adding shades of green to the landscape, rocks and hidden corners of extraordinary beauty: although less well known than other coastal gems in Ogliastra, Cala Sisine is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
How to get to Cala Sisine
Cala Sisine can be reached either by land, with a relatively easy hike, or by sea from the Ogliastra ports of Santa Maria Navarrese and Arbatax.
For the second option, you can easily rent a dinghy with or without a skipper, including boats that can be driven without a licence, or book a guided excursion to some of the most beautiful coastal locations along the Baunei Coast. There are options to suit every preference and need.
One piece of advice: arrange everything in advance, as boat trips along the Baunei Coast are extremely popular during the summer!
Hiking to Cala Sisine
A backpack, a full water bottle, with at least two litres recommended, and comfortable shoes: this is everything you need for the hike to Cala Sisine.
It is a fairly easy walk and is also suitable for children. Starting from Baunei, follow the winding road leading to the Golgo Plateau and continue as far as the Church of San Pietro, where the paved road ends. From there, the unpaved section begins and must be travelled in an off-road vehicle.
Continue until you reach a clearing known as Planu ’e Murta, where you can leave your vehicle and walk the final two kilometres. At the end of the trail, a glimpse of paradise awaits you as your reward.
