Tertenia

Tertenia lies in a valley framed by dolomitic plateaus and varied Mediterranean vegetation, extending all the way to a coastline of long pale beaches and rugged rocky sections. Its diverse territory appeals both to beach lovers and hikers, with woodland, hills and winding trails.

Things to see in Tertenia

Along the beautiful Marina di Tertenia coastline, Foxi Manna stands out for clear shallow water and fine pale sand, contrasting with red porphyry rocks and the green mountains behind it. Another scenic stretch is Foxi Murdegu, overlooked by the 18th-century Torre di San Giovanni di Sarrala.

Nuragic sites in Tertenia

The territory contains around 67 nuraghi, including Nuraghe Aleri and Nuraghe Longu, as well as numerous Giants' Tombs. Tools and obsidian flakes also document human presence from the Neolithic period.
Another remarkable monument is the deep sacred well known as Sa Brecca at S'Arrala 'e Sesu. Around 24 metres deep and reached by roughly 40 steps, the structure is particularly notable for its two superimposed tholos chambers, which remain well preserved.

Events in Tertenia

One of Tertenia's most distinctive events is Su Biginau Antigu, held in August. The historic centre is transformed to recreate everyday life at the end of the 19th century, with old houses, traditional crafts and local food offering visitors a journey into the town's past.
