Coddu Vecchju Giants' Tomb
The Giants' Tomb of Coddu Vecchju is one of Gallura's best-known Nuragic funerary monuments. Its large central stele and stone exedra stand in the rural landscape near Arzachena, a short distance from the La Prisgiona complex.
The collective tomb
Giants' Tombs were funerary monuments designed for collective burials. Coddu Vecchju preserves a particularly recognisable and representative example of this type of architecture.
The stele and exedra
The most striking element is the large central stele, flanked by stones arranged to form an exedra. Together they create a monumental space in front of the burial corridor.
Arzachena's archaeological landscape
The surrounding area contains numerous Nuragic and pre-Nuragic sites. Coddu Vecchju is therefore best understood as part of a rich archaeological landscape rather than as an isolated monument.
La Prisgiona
Its proximity to the nuraghe and village of La Prisgiona makes it easy to visit two very different monuments in the same day without long transfers.
How to include it in your itinerary
For the Trip Planner, Coddu Vecchju is a strong archaeological stop to pair with La Prisgiona and, if time allows, either Arzachena or a single coastal stop.
