Santa Vittoria Nuragic Sanctuary
The Santa Vittoria Nuragic Sanctuary extends across the plateau above Serri and is one of the great ceremonial complexes of Nuragic Sardinia. A sacred well, temples, huts and communal spaces form a large and varied archaeological site.
A major Nuragic sanctuary
The archaeological area covers several hectares and includes structures built and used in different periods. Religious activity was closely connected with gatherings, exchange and communal life.
The sacred well
The well temple is one of the sanctuary’s central monuments and was associated with water worship. Its construction reflects the high technical level reached by Nuragic architecture.
The festival area
Huts, enclosures and communal spaces show that the complex was used for more than individual ritual. It could host groups arriving from different territories for shared religious and social activities.
From prehistory to later periods
The area continued to be used after the Nuragic period. The church of Santa Vittoria reflects the long continuity of the site’s religious significance.
In the Trip Planner
Santa Vittoria is a major archaeological destination and deserves several hours. It can be combined with Serri or one nearby site, provided the day remains realistically paced.
