Porto Conte Regional Park

Porto Conte Regional Natural Park protects a vast area around Alghero where cliffs, forests, bays and archaeological sites lie within a few kilometres of one another. It brings together many of the main natural and cultural attractions of the Coral Riviera.

A park between land and sea

The park includes limestone headlands, woodland, coastline and wetlands. This variety makes it possible to choose between hiking, viewpoints, nature experiences and cultural visits.

Capo Caccia

Capo Caccia is one of the park's most spectacular areas. Its cliffs rise above the sea and are home to Neptune's Grotto, which can be reached by land or by sea when conditions allow.

Forests and hiking trails

Inland areas offer trails through Mediterranean scrub and woodland, with panoramic viewpoints over the bay. Routes vary in difficulty and should be chosen according to the season and conditions.

Archaeology

Nuraghe Palmavera and other sites show how long this landscape has been inhabited. The combination of archaeology and nature makes Porto Conte particularly suitable for themed itineraries.

How to use Porto Conte in the Trip Planner

Porto Conte should be treated as an area rather than a quick single stop. A realistic itinerary should select one or two attractions within the park, such as Capo Caccia and Palmavera, rather than packing too many locations into one day.
