Nuraghe Majori

Nuraghe Majori lies a few kilometres outside Tempio Pausania, surrounded by cork oak woodland and granite scenery. Its manageable size, natural setting and easy combination with a visit to the town make it one of the most accessible archaeological sites in Alta Gallura.

The nuraghe

The structure is built from large granite blocks and preserves internal rooms and passages where visitors can observe Nuragic construction techniques at close range.

The cork oak forest

The woodland surrounding the monument is an essential part of the experience. The site feels fully integrated into the landscape, combining archaeology and nature in a single stop.

The visit

A visit does not normally require a full day and fits easily into a wider Alta Gallura itinerary. Check opening hours and access arrangements before setting out.

Tempio Pausania

Its proximity to Tempio Pausania makes it natural to combine the nuraghe with the historic centre. Together they make an effective half-day cultural itinerary.

In the Trip Planner

When a traveller selects history and archaeology, Nuraghe Majori should be given greater weight than a minor nearby stop simply chosen for geographic proximity.
