Rosas Mine

Rosas Mine, in the territory of Narcao, is a former lead and zinc mining complex restored as an ecomuseum. The village, industrial structures and visitor routes provide insight into miners’ daily lives and the industrial history of the Sulcis.

The mining village

A small settlement developed around the mine with buildings used both for work and community life. Restoration has preserved an important part of this industrial heritage.

Lead and zinc

Modern mining activity began in the 19th century and focused mainly on metal ores. The site reflects a crucial economic phase in the history of the Sulcis.

The visit

The museum route introduces visitors to spaces, equipment and galleries associated with underground mining. Access conditions and accessibility should be checked on official channels before visiting.

Narcao and the inland Sulcis

Rosas shows a side of the Sulcis very different from the coast. Santadi, Montessu and other inland sites can be combined with the mine for a broader cultural itinerary.

In the Trip Planner

Rosas is a strong destination for industrial history and local culture. When travellers choose history or territory-based experiences, it should take priority over a simple pass through the nearby village.
