Ingurtosu
Ingurtosu is a former mining village in the territory of Arbus, set in the Is Animas valley along the road towards Piscinas. Abandoned buildings, industrial structures, shafts and wild scenery tell one of the most important chapters of Sardinia’s mining history.
The mining village
For more than a century, Ingurtosu was the administrative centre of major mining operations. The settlement housed workers, families, offices and services connected with extraction.
The Is Animas valley
Industrial remains are spread along a rugged valley descending towards the Costa Verde. Ruins and mining structures are embedded directly in the landscape.
Industrial archaeology
Ore-washing plants, shafts and old buildings help explain how a large mining system was organised. Some structures are unsafe or inaccessible, so barriers and safety instructions must be respected.
Towards Piscinas
The road continues towards the Piscinas Dunes, creating one of the most atmospheric routes on Sardinia’s west coast. The drive itself is part of the experience.
In the Trip Planner
Ingurtosu and Piscinas form a strong pairing. There is no need to add Montevecchio on the same day when the selected pace is Relaxed or Balanced.
