Su Marmuri Cave

Among the natural attractions to see in Ogliastra is the Su Marmuri Cave, located in the territory of Ulassai. It is one of the most impressive cave systems open to visitors in Sardinia.

The road to Su Marmuri runs through the rugged inland landscapes of Ogliastra and is part of the experience itself. The cave reaches heights of around 35 metres in places and extends for roughly one kilometre. Visitors descend about 200 steps into the underground chambers, where large limestone formations create a dramatic setting. Guided access is strongly recommended and visiting arrangements should be checked in advance. Travellers who are very uncomfortable in enclosed spaces may prefer to remain outside.
